Abuse Policy
============

Last updated: October 7, 2026

screeenly loads websites and HTML in a browser on our servers. The websites you capture see our servers as the visitor. That's why we don't allow the following uses.

What you can't use screeenly for
--------------------------------

- **Illegal content.** Capturing, generating or distributing content that is illegal, including child sexual abuse material.
- **Phishing and fraud.** Capturing or rendering phishing pages, fake login forms or other pages built to deceive people, for example to create convincing copies of them.
- **Infringing other people's rights.** Copying content you have no right to use, or getting around paywalls, logins or other access controls of websites you are not allowed to access.
- **Attacks on other websites.** Load testing, denial of service, vulnerability scanning or flooding websites you don't own with requests.
- **Using screeenly as a proxy.** Hiding your own identity or IP address to access websites, or getting around blocks and rate limits that websites placed on you.
- **Scraping against a website's terms.** Collecting data from websites whose terms forbid it, or collecting personal data without a legal basis.
- **Malware.** Rendering pages to distribute malware or to test whether malware gets detected.
- **Spam.** Generating images or PDFs for unsolicited bulk emails.
- **Harassment.** Collecting and sharing other people's private information.
- **Getting around our limits.** Creating multiple accounts to get more free requests, or sharing an account to get around plan limits.

This list is not complete. We will act on other uses that harm people, websites or our service.

What we do
----------

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

- revoke API tokens,
- lower the rate limit of your account,
- suspend or close your account without notice,
- report illegal activity to the authorities.

We don't refund accounts that we suspended or closed for abuse.

------------

If you think someone uses screeenly for one of the purposes above, email support@screeenly.com. Include as much as you can: the URL, screenshots, the time of the request and the `X-Request-Id` if you have one. We won't share your identity with the account you report.

We reply within two business days and tell you when we have looked into it, unless the law doesn't allow us to.
